Some of the latest news relating to Giorgio Armani sunglasses is that Giorgio Armani has collaborated with Miramax Films and Initial Entertainment Group to create the exclusive sunglasses worn in The Aviator, one of the most highly anticipated films of the year. The Aviator is currently in cinemas nationwide. The Aviator’s director, Martin Scorsese, a long-time friend of Giorgio Armani, approached the designer to create the period eyewear for the film. Working closely with Safilo Group, Armani’s eyewear manufacturer, and its historical eyewear archives from this era, Giorgio Armani developed two signature sunglass styles in particular for lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
Coinciding with the worldwide release of The Aviator, Giorgio Armani is introducing a version of the featured classic metal aviator into his signature eyewear collection. Known as the GA 261S, this metal aviator sunglass will be available in four colours (gold/green, gold/brown, ruthenium/dark grey, gun metal/dark grey) and comes with a limited edition hard case.
The Aviator, directed by Martin Scorsese and written by John Logan, tells the story of aviation pioneer Howard Hughes (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), the eccentric billionaire industrialist famous for romancing some of the world’s most beautiful women. The drama recounts the years of his life from the late 1920s through the 1940s, an epoch when Hughes was directing and producing Hollywood movies and test flying innovative aircrafts he designed and created.
