Clear lenses tend to be a fashion accessory. They are usually category 0 or category 1 lenses and therefore don't block much sunlight. However, even category 0 and category 1 lenses can still offer UV protection. Therefore, the glasses may be a fashion item but they can still be effective at protecting eyes.
