We all know that designer sunglasses can be rather expensive, and even being really careful the unfortunate can happen and sunglasses can get damaged. Rather than panicking it is worth trying to asses the damage as it is possible that you will be able to find a manufacturer or optician who carry out sunglasses repairs. Bearing this in mind you may not have to purchase a new pair to replace the sunglasses.

If the lenses are undamaged then the chances of a successful repair increases. It is highly unlikely that severe damage to lenses will ever be repairable. This is because lenses are only effective when in their original condition. Cracks, and even scratches can allow UV rays and excess light through the lens and may even result in rays being filtered and focused on the cornea which can be exceedingly dangerous. That is why it is important to never where sunglasses with a damaged lens.

On the other hand, if an arm has broken off, or if the bridge has been bent, or other slight defects to the frame have occurred it is possible for a repair to be made. It is imperative that you try and contact the manufacturer of the glasses, if the damage is caused due to a fault and not through your own mistake.

If you have damaged the sunglasses yourself then it may be possible for the manufacturer to repair the glasses at a cost, but you can then rest assured that your sunglasses are being repaired by the original manufacturer.
