UVB rays are the rays that can burn the skin and cause damage to the cornea. Some research suggests that excessive exposure to UVB rays can cause cataracts.
UVA rays are typically thought to be absorbed by the eye lens, however although there are no associated disorders as a result of UVA rays, it is still essential to protect from the rays.
What should I look for when buying sunglasses? To best protect your eyes, look for sunglasses that provide at least 98% protection from both UVA and UVB rays. Ideally you should look for 100% protection from both. It is important to note that the lenses do not need to be dark to protect from UV rays. Just check for the protection.
