Flying Sunglasses

Flying sunglasses are essential for pilots of all aircraft. An excellent UV filter on the lenses is also necessary. On many planes the windscreen may actually be polarised, therefore polarised lenses cannot be worn. This is because if a polarised lens is held at a 90 degree angle to another polarised lens, no light at all can pass. Therefore it is advisable to look for a gradient lens which can protect from glare without being polarised. Serengeti have a range of fantastic sunglasses that cover this aspect.

For other flying, such as microlites and hang gliders, the important aspect to consider is exposure to the elements, and therefore it is advisable to seek out sunglasses that will provide this protection.
